Sibuyan, Romblon

Dive sites here are varied, ranging from the popular wreck of the MV Mactan (an interisland ferryboat that went down off the coast of Maestre de Campo a few decades ago) to tiny colorful Banton Island and the sheltered Romblon and Tablas Islands. The waters sorrounding Marinduque are home to a number of more sheltered sites, such as Tres Reyes, Dos Hermanos and Nantanco, which are usually only visited when the seas are too rough to get to preferred destinations.

MV MACTAN This old ferryboat capsized in the late ’70s in a freak wave just off the coast of Maestre de Campo Island. The diving community gained one of the country’s better wreck dives.
BANTON BIG ROCK CORAL GARDEN This is a colorful shallow dive (you didn’t exceed 12m) and is also an excellent snorkeling site.
BANTON NORTHWEST WALL About 30km from Marinduque Island’s southern tip, Banton is a nearly circular island with a diameter of just 3km.
BANTON SOUTHWEST WALL When the current or waves are too much to dive the Northwest Wall, it’s usually OK to dive along the southeast side of the island. A gently sloping healthy coral garden runs from the seashore to around 10m, where the wall drops of steeply.
CRESTA DE GALLO In Cresta de Gallo island, This large reef contains some interesting features including some outcrops and shelves. The minimum depth of the reef is around 5 meters and slopes down to some interesting coral features.
